Much of this book was adapted from 66 articles which we have written for monthly publication in Japan, starting in 1995, in "Golf Equipment World", Tokyo and our first book, published in 2000.

The more technical golfer, researchers and club designers should refer to How Golf Clubs Really Work and How To Optimize Their Designs for a more technically oriented presentation of this information and technical record of our research.

ABOUT THIS BOOK

This book is not the usual book on how to improve your swing and repeat it more precisely - teaching professionals and practice can help there. Rather, it explains basic ways to play better golf with the swing you have. There is also a wealth of practical information on effects of wind, ball position, the turf, and the nature of shots.

In particular, there is a clear description of some basic improvements in the way you aim a shot, whcih are both more accurate and more repeatable than conventional aiming. The common tendency to slice need no longer worry golfers. You no longer need to try to make a good swing by swinging from inside to out, or by using a weak or strong grip.

This book confirms much of what golfers know, adds much previously uinknown information, helps one to understand what goes on in a golf shot, and backs it all up with good science. The back-up work is summarized from the authors' first, more scientific book, How Golf Clubs Really Work and How To Optimize Their Designs. That book includes numerous measurements with golfers and analysis of all that happens from impact until the ball stops.

This book is the result of over 10 years of competent, intensive technical research and analysis by the authors, both being aerospace engineers with advanced degrees.
